About

Tilla Giro is a performance and visual artist. After obtaining an LL.M. in International Human Rights Law from the Europa-Institut in Saarbrücken, Germany, she studied fine arts at the Hochschule der Bildenden Künste Saar and developed an artistic practice that combines social engagement with reflection on collective memory, particularly in public spaces.

She creates work at the intersection of documentary and poetic fiction, drawing on objects and narratives collected during site-specific research.

Her projects often take the form of counter-monuments and interventions in public spaces, aiming to create a dialogue between the memory of places and the individual experiences of their inhabitants, in order to generate hybrid spaces between the imaginary and the everyday.

She is currently an artist-in-residence at Mains d'Œuvres (Saint-Ouen, France) and has participated in several residency programs, notably with Cirkus Kolektiv (Split, Croatia) and Landworks as part of the Nouveau Grand Tour of the Institut français (Argentiera, Sardinia). Her work has been presented in exhibitions, performances, and publications at Curva Pura (Rome, Italy), the Ludwig Museum (Budapest, Hungary), the Saarländische Galerie (Berlin, Germany), the Völklinger Hütte UNESCO Site (Völklingen, Germany), and the Fondazione Tufano (Milan, Italy).
